Your kitchen gets made to fit your room. Not the other way round.
Most kitchens come out of a catalogue in fixed widths. You end up with filler panels down the side of the oven and a run of units that stops 80mm short of the wall. We do not work like that. We measure your room, draw it up, and make the cabinets to the millimetre in our workshop in Mansfield. If the wall bows, we scribe to it. If the chimney breast eats into the run, we build round it.
Everything is made here by us. Nothing is bought in flat-packed and re-badged.
What "bespoke" actually means here
It means the sizes are yours. A 640mm gap is a 640mm cabinet. A ceiling that drops 40mm from one end of the room to the other gets a cornice cut to follow it.
It also means the details are yours. Door style, drawer depth, shelf spacing, the height of the worktop if you are tall or short. Pan drawers where you want pans. A proper spice pull-out instead of a dead corner. If you have seen something you like and you want it in a different timber or a different size, we will make it in a different timber and a different size.
Timber and finish
We work in solid timber and quality sheet materials, chosen to suit the job rather than to suit our stock.
Painted kitchens are usually made in tulipwood or a hardwood with a paint-grade face. It takes colour beautifully and stays flat. You pick the colour. Any colour you can name, we can spray.
If you want the grain to show, oak and ash are the usual choices. Oak gives you that warm open grain and goes darker over the years. Ash is lighter and straighter. Both can be oiled, waxed or lacquered depending on how much work you want to do to them later.
We will talk you through what each one does over ten years, not just what it looks like on day one. That matters more in a kitchen than anywhere else in the house.
How the job runs
We come and look. No obligation. We measure, we look at services, and we listen to what annoys you about the kitchen you have got.
We price it properly. A written quote with the spec on it, so you know what you are getting.
We make it. This is the bit most people never see, so we send you photos on WhatsApp as it comes together. Carcasses going up, doors in the spray booth, that sort of thing. You are not left wondering for weeks.
We fit it. We fit what we make. If something needs adjusting on site, the man adjusting it is the man who made it.
If your house is old
Period property is our comfort zone. We work in conservation areas regularly and we are used to matching existing mouldings, panel proportions and profiles so a new kitchen does not fight with an old house.
If there is an original feature you want to keep, say so early. Working round it is nearly always possible if we know before we start drawing.
Awkward is fine
Sloping ceilings, cellar heads, stone floors that are not level, a room that is not square in any direction. These are the jobs other people turn down and they are the jobs we like.
We have made all sorts over the years, including one-off pieces well outside normal joinery. If your kitchen has a problem in it, tell us what the problem is. We will tell you honestly whether we can solve it.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a bespoke kitchen take?
It depends on the size of the kitchen, the finish and how busy the workshop is when you order. A painted kitchen takes longer than a stained one because of the spraying and drying stages. We will give you a realistic timescale when we quote, and we will tell you if it changes. We would rather be honest at the start than make a promise we cannot keep.
Is a bespoke kitchen much more expensive than a showroom one?
It is not the like-for-like jump most people expect, because you are not paying for a showroom, a salesperson or a national advertising budget. What drives the cost is the number of units, the timber you choose, the complexity of the doors, the finish, and how much awkward work is involved. Sloping ceilings and curved runs take longer to make. We will break the quote down so you can see where the money goes.
Painted or stained. Which should I go for?
Painted suits most kitchens and gives you complete freedom on colour. It can be touched up and it can be repainted years later if you fancy a change. Stained or oiled timber shows the grain and ages into something warmer, but the colour is more or less what you get. If you want the character of the wood to be the feature, go natural. If you want the kitchen to sit quietly and let the room do the talking, go painted.
Can you match my existing units or an old moulding?
Yes. Matching a profile is normal work for us. Bring us a door, a piece of skirting or an offcut and we will cut a matching profile. This is one of the main reasons people come to us instead of a national supplier.
Do you fit the kitchen as well as make it?
Yes. We make it and we fit it. That means there is nobody to blame in the middle if something needs tweaking. We will also talk to your electrician, plumber and worktop fitter about sequencing so the job runs in the right order.
My house is in a conservation area. Does that affect a kitchen?
Internally, usually not, because conservation rules mainly deal with what is visible from outside. It can matter if the work involves windows, external doors or anything structural. We work in conservation areas regularly and we will flag anything that looks like it needs permission before we start.
