About TC Joinery Ltd
Our story
TC Joinery began in 2004 when founder Terence Cudworth set up a small workshop in Skegby, a few minutes from Sutton-in-Ashfield in the East Midlands. Terence had already clocked up years in bench joinery, plastic fabrication, uPVC manufacture and even boat-building before deciding to channel his skills into a dedicated, customer-focused joinery firm. What started as a “man-and-a-van” operation has grown into a limited company with a fully equipped factory, yet the ethos remains the same: craftsmanship first, shortcuts never.

What makes us different
- Creative problem-solvers – Unusual room shapes, tight deadlines or heritage restrictions are challenges we relish.
- End-to-end service – From concept sketches to the last lick of paint, everything is handled by our own team, so quality control never leaves our sight.
- Pride in the finish – Whether we are restoring a 19th-century sash window or installing a contemporary oak staircase, crisp joints and glass-smooth lacquers are non-negotiable.
- Local partnerships – We work hand-in-hand with trusted kitchen suppliers, glass processors, flooring fitters and metal fabricators, giving clients a single point of contact for multi-trade projects.
Our workshop and craftspeople
Behind our showroom doors you will find state-of-the-art CNC routers sitting alongside traditional mortice chisels and moulding planes. This blend allows us to cut microscopic dovetails one minute and hand-shape a sweeping handrail the next. Every machinist, assembler and finisher is City & Guilds qualified, and several team members hold specialist Accoya training certificates. We invest heavily in apprenticeships because the future of fine joinery depends on passing skills to the next generation.
Sustainable materials
All hardwoods and softwoods are sourced from FSC-certified forests, and we are an Accoya-approved manufacturer, meaning we can offer dimensional-stable, rot-resistant timber with a 50-year above-ground guarantee. Off-cuts are recycled for biomass heating, sawdust is collected for equine bedding and our spray booth uses low-VOC water-based finishes wherever possible.
What we create
- Doors and windows – Heritage sash replacements, contemporary flush casements, grand entrance sets and bi-fold garden doors, all factory-glazed and pre-finished for fast installation.
- Stairs and balustrades – From compact kite winders to sweeping feature staircases carved from prime oak or ash.
- Bars and counters – Statement pieces for pubs, hotels and private homes, complete with integrated refrigeration and lighting.
- Cupboards and cabinetry – Built-in wardrobes, bookcases, alcove units and display cabinets tailored to the millimetre.
- Specialist commissions – Film-set props, curved reception desks, church furniture and anything else you can sketch.
Service area
Although the TC Joinery workshop is in Nottinghamshire, we regularly travel across Mansfield, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Huthwaite, Chesterfield, Derby and Nottingham. Larger commercial installations have taken us as far as Birmingham and Leeds, and we are happy to quote nationally for the right project.
The TC Joinery promise
- Transparent quoting – Itemised costs and realistic lead-times from day one.
- Respect for your space – Dust sheets down, furniture protected, jobs left tidy each night.
- Dedicated project lead – The craftsperson who measures up is the person who answers your calls until the work is signed off.
- After-care – A maintenance pack with touch-up paint and care advice comes as standard, with optional annual inspections for peace of mind.
